What is SQVCT?

What is QVCT?

To understand what QVCT is, let's first go back to its creator, theANACT... Don't run away, these acronyms are your friends and don't mean any harm to you! ANACT refers to the National Agency for the Improvement of Working Conditions, a public administrative establishment created in 1973 under the supervision of the Ministry in charge of Labor. Her role? Simply design and disseminate methods that improve health and safety at work sites! As for Quality of Life and Working Conditions, it refers to a collective approach that can be carried out by a company, an association or even a public structure (hey, exactly like an OuiLive Challenge). The social partners of ANACT (representatives of employers and workers, employers' associations and unions) recently added the term “working conditions” to the QVT title in order to avoid any misunderstandings. Indeed, QVCT approaches must target the improvement of work and conditions. Tempting and attractive, the establishment of massages and sports activities, the delivery of fruits and vegetables, or the layout and decoration of offices, however, do not make it possible to sustainably improve the ways of working or to give meaning to work. It is necessary that the approach be carried out thoroughly to be really effective!

II/ Objectives of the SQVCT

To implement this approach, well-defined objectives must be met. The main one? Allow everyone to do their work in the best possible conditions, individually, and to collectively build a work organization favorable to people's health and their productivity. To materialize this approach, it is necessary to meet well-defined objectives. Once the overall objective of the QVCT approach has been defined, what are the sub-objectives to be implemented by organizations to achieve it?

  • Give each employee the opportunity to express themselves and to take action on their work.
  • Learning to work better together.
  • Allow employees to participate in the evolution of the organization.
  • Aim for an acceptable and sustainable development model.

From these objectives comes a dedicated week: Quality of Life and Working Conditions Week. A flagship event and HR highlight, it allows you to question your work environment, to question it and to revalue it. It is the ideal time to reflect and discuss the best practices of today and tomorrow as well as the initiatives to be put in place to contribute to the well-being of its employees. This year, the QVCT Week will take place from June 19 to 23, 2023 and is called the Week of Joy !

III/ Why organize a QVCT week?

Organizing a QVCT week is therefore an opportunity to devote time in the life of the company to detecting and providing solutions to the difficulties encountered by employees. And this highlight is essential! In fact, while 78% of HR managers identify QVCT as a key issue in their company, only 47% of companies integrate into their organization. Too bad, especially when you know that the return on investment is increased, by 235% of ROI, in companies that put QVCT at the heart of their business project (Opinion Way 2018)!

What are the initiatives to promote the SQVCT?

It is important to anticipate your Quality of Life and Working Conditions Week several months in advance, and that is why we are talking to you now about the initiatives you can put in place. Here are several examples of actions or measures you can take to improve SQVCT in your company:

  • Optimize the quality of its offices (create a rest area, equip yourself to fight against a sedentary lifestyle...)
  • Organize activities that promote well-being (massages, yoga, sophrology, various sports courses, training workshops, conferences on employee well-being...)
  • Rewarding performance on an Employee Day
  • Practicing physical activity as a team/ team-building
  • Set up awareness-raising workshops, solidarity initiatives
  • Take part in Next SQVCT Challenge 2023 organized by OuiLive in partnership with Café Joyeux!

IV/ The obligations of the employer

Until some time ago, the legal framework for quality of life at work (QVT) focused on the prevention of psychosocial risks (RPS), also known as occupational risks. The employer and HR functions had to put in place actions to maintain physical and mental health or prevent safety at work. Then came the National Interprofessional Agreements (ANI), which frame employers' obligations relating to QVT. It is the ANI of June 19, 2013, entitled “Towards a policy to improve the Quality of Life at Work (QWL) and Professional Equality” that QWL is truly defined. Companies are strongly encouraged to implement QWL policies that promote better working conditions for employees.

How to set up the QVCT in your organization?

Before embarking on a QVCT approach, it is advisable to take stock of the situation within your company. Several criteria can be used, in particular based on the 3 indicators taken into account by ANACT:

  • Turnover: the turnover rate of a company's staff. If it is low, it is certainly an indicator of a good quality of life for employees.
  • The absenteeism rate: As with turnover, the lower it is, the better the quality of life would be!
  • Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS): key indicator that assesses employee engagement at work. Derived from the NPS, which measures customer satisfaction, it allows you to estimate the probability of your company being recommended by your employees.

Once you have completed an employee needs assessment, you can take measures for employee well-being and implement a consistent QVCT approach within your organization.

  1. Prioritize issues and establish actions : is professional equality the priority? The social climate in the company? Management?
  2. Depending on the issues identified, Adopt the actions in line with these: awareness and promotion campaigns, competitions to encourage initiatives, discussion groups, challenges to improve corporate culture or even personal development programs
  3. Follow and manage your approach : once these actions are in place, it is essential to evaluate the results obtained and to perpetuate the actions over time.
  4. Wrap it all up with one, participation in the next SQVCT Challenge 2023 (yes we repeat ourselves, but it's for a good cause) and that's it!

So he is back! But it has changed a lot!
