The energy sobriety plan
Since the start of the school year in September, energy sobriety has been on everyone's lips. However, the concept of energy sobriety is not new: following its inclusion in the law on energy transition, it was popularized in 2015 in France. Today, more than ever, it is at the heart of the news. Caused in 2021 by the strong global economic recovery after the recession linked to the Covid-19 pandemic from 2020, then amplified from March 2022 by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, the energy crisis reached its peak in a few months. A global shortage is now threatening our daily lives. But then: what is the energy sobriety plan? In a few words, it is simply the fact of reducing the energy consumption and environmental impact of your company, all in a sustainable and responsible approach.
For the government, reducing energy consumption is a lever to avoid cuts and shortages this winter, in a context of energy crisis. In the longer term, it is also one of the main axes for achieving carbon neutrality and fighting climate change. The objective is threefold: to reduce energy consumption (by 10%) within two years, to deal with the energy crisis and to achieve carbon neutrality (by 2050).
How to achieve energy sobriety?
We are aware of this: zero consumption does not exist. So, collectively our goal is to put in place measures to move towards more sobriety.
Back to high school: in mathematical analysis, the concept of limit describes the approximation of values in a sequence when the index tends to infinity. Well, energy sobriety is the same thing! It will be impossible for you to reach consumption 0. On the other hand, multiple measures such as renovating buildings, rethinking spaces or even opting for well-sized heating equipment can be put in place.
But that's not all: as you know, at OuiLive, we strive to mobilize your collaborators, convinced that the awareness and action of your human resources are the most effective ways to boost the positive impact of your company.
Eco-friendly actions to adopt
Anyone who wants to can and should contribute to energy sobriety! There are no small actions to save the planet and there are no small actions for energy sobriety either. Only the desire to change habits and to realize that everyone has a role to play! By turning off your devices rather than putting them on standby or by swapping your filament bulbs for LED bulbs, you are already taking a big step! But that's not all: close the shutters and curtains at night to keep the heat, turn off the light when leaving the room, purge the radiators, etc...

Businesses: limit your energy consumption
Raise awareness among your employees, it also means acting on the individuals that they are. This is why it is not only individuals who are highlighted when talking about energy sobriety, no pun intended, of course!
The energy sobriety plan presented by the government includes 15 flagship measures that businesses have committed to respecting. This action plan was adopted by employers' and trade union organizations, as well as by all professional federations. You got it: it's time for collective commitment! In recent months, each company has been invited to build its own energy sobriety plan. But how does that translate?

The top 3 good ideas already implemented by businesses
Businesses can be divided into two categories: studious and others. Among those who choose the low-energy plan rather than undergoing it, here are our top 3:
- The La Poste Group has implemented its own plan as early as 2020 to reduce GHG emissions by 10%. To achieve this, La Poste Immo and its subsidiary Sobre Énergie are mobilizing to deploy a energy management system on the entire postal real estate stock.
- On 4 October last, Crédit Agricole has committed to Make.org to launch the cause”Energy Sobriety Emergency”, alongside ten institutions and companies. After a major citizen consultation, the collective proposed concrete solutions to quickly reduce energy consumption and bring the whole of society towards sustainable sobriety.
- The channels of TF1 just like those of France Télévisions have announced partnerships with RTE (Réseau de Transport d'Électrice), the electricity network operator. The two audiovisual groups are thus committed to informing viewers when the country faces periods of high tension on the electricity network and to broadcast the EcoWatt alerts, the “smart bison” of electricity consumption, especially during weather reports.
