Movember Challenge: Engage your employees for a strong moment around men's health!

1. An operation that came straight from the land of kangaroos!

It all started a few years ago, far away from here, on the other side of the world... in Australia! More precisely, it was in a bar in Melbourne in 2003 that two friends, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery decide to launch the Movember movement over a beer.

After noticing that men pay less attention to their health than women, they embark on a crazy bet! Convince as many men as possible to grow a moustache, a symbol of masculinity brought up to date, in order to be seen and, above all, heard.

Challenge accepted, the Movember Foundation was born shortly after, and the funds raised are donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Gradually, the movement expanded and established itself in several countries, including France in 2012. The goal is simple: to change the face of men's health. To do this, men participating in the movement are invited to grow a moustache for 30 days to demonstrate their support for the cause.

2. Focus on mental health and male cancers.

Today Movember is committed to several topics: mental health and suicide prevention, and male cancers. In fact, we note that 75% of suicide deaths are men. How do you explain it? Hidden depression, denial, lack of communication, shame or supposed attack on their manhood... Whatever the reason, the challenge is to Speak out about this silent crisis.

As for male cancers, we are referring here to prostate and testicular cancers, the main cancers that are the subject of Movember's fight. When you see the numbers, you quickly understand why... The Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men closely followed by prostate cancer, the second most common cancer in men in the world, with over 1.4 million cases registered each year. Even if successful, treatments can take a severe toll on patients' physical and mental health. The ambition of Movember? Ensuring that no more men die of cancer.

That's why Movember invites awareness, screening and action!

3. What does the Movember Challenge have in store for you?

To change the face of men's health, you have to start with hers! So whether you are a future mustachioed person or a mustachioed supporter, this is an opportunity to mobilize your teams for a new Challenge. From the beginning of November, activate the Movember Challenge for your teams. On the program?

Despite the cold weather that sets in, be sure to bring human warmth to the heart of your business during Movember, a convivial and supportive event. But that's not all! Develop collective awareness with a Challenge spread over 2 weeks via tips, activities (step challenges, video and photo) and content dedicated to men's health.

4. What is happening in concrete terms?

Sixteen years after the story of the two friends in this Melbourne bar, the Movember movement brings together millions of participants across 20 countries. Since then, every November, Public opinion is thus made aware of men's health through the mustache, an emblem of the cause.

Each registered company will participate concretely in the funds to bring together researchers from around the world in the field of prostate and testicular cancer. In addition, they will also contribute to a new care intervention program that will help men with prostate cancer access health care and support that will improve their quality of life.

And yes, Movember is an opportunity to raise awareness in your community: the idea is to understand, promote and defend men's health. The aim? Mobilize men (and women) so that they are better informed, more active and connected!
